When you have a sports car or when you drive like you have a sports car, you need the right tires beneath you to grip the road. Any type of tire won’t do, as you will need tires that offer more than those seen on your average minivan. The Yokohama Avid Envigor is a year-round tire, built for high-performance driving in almost any kind of weather.

The Yokohama Avid Envigor has an all-season silica tread compound that has been molded and optimized. With its five-rib directional grid, you will find that you get the best possible performance along with traction that is second to none. Normally, with tires of this grade (W-speed rated), you won’t get a lot of traction in high water or light snow conditions, but you will find that the Yokohama Avid Envigor works in all of these.

When it comes to straight-line tracking, the linked shoulder blocks and continuous tapered center rib help keep you on the road, no matter what the weather or terrain. This should also help prevent you from hydroplaning in rainy conditions.

Most people who have chosen this as an after-market option have stated their concern for the actual mileage to be expected from the Yokohama Avid Envigor, usually implying that you should expect them to last 30,000 miles rather than the prescribed 40,000 miles. That being said, it may be that because these are ultra-high performance tires, the drivers are also working them a little harder than they should be worked.

However, in spite of this concern, the smooth ride, the grip, and the noise control from these tires is exceptional, especially for W-grade polyester body tires. You will find that no matter what type of terrain you are on, you should still get the same kind of quiet ride that you would expect in a more affordable and multi-purpose type of tire.

As the owner of Yokohama tires myself, I can say that the difference they made on my vehicle was immediate and that I feel a grip on the road around corners, even in damp conditions, that I never had before. They aren’t the quietest tires on the road, but they are smooth and safe and allow me to drive the way I enjoy doing.

Yokohama Tires, built by the Yokohama Rubber Company, has been in existence for almost a century, initially working in conjunction with B.F. Goodrich to provide tires to other countries. Yokohama Tires has a reputation for providing extremely high-performance tires and is highly involved in various forms of car racing.

Buy or Don’t Buy?

There are certainly some people out there who will tell you that the Yokohama AVID ENVigor will not last the 40,000 miles that it guarantees, and that may be the case. But these are extremely affordable, ultra-high performance all-season tires, and you will reap the benefits of that from day one. Although these are by no means the highest-rated tires on the market in this class, most drivers are finding that they prove to be an excellent buy.
