Tires 101

I considered shooting these tire 101 videos myself, but there’s no point since Yokohama was kind enough to allow me to use theirs. This first video is about how and when to check the air pressure in your tires.  Off-Road racer Cameron Steele is the guy doing the talking in this series of informative videos.

The next video explains what the numbers on the side of your tire mean.  Besides size, there are the Uniform quality tire guide numbers which have to do with treadware rating, traction and temperature.  For example, the higher the number for treadware, the longer the tire is going to last.  Traction and temperature use A, B, C.

This video also explains how to read and understand the D.O.T. numbers on the side of the tire which tell you where and when the tire was built.
